Turning the system on/off
1. Turn on the screen(s) using the power buttons on each
- If they are on and in standby, the indicator light should be orange
- If they’re off the indicator light will be off
2. Turn on the computer. The silver box on the left is the Mac Mini. The power button is on the back right corner (shown here from the rear).
When shutting down click the Apple logo in the top left corner and choose Shut Down instead of using the button.
3. Turn on the soundboard using the power button on the back right corner (shown here from the rear).
4. Turn on the TVs (if needed) using the same remote for both. This is also used for the TVs in the Café.
Follow the same steps in reverse to shut everything down.
Playing music from a phone or other device
- On the right side of the soundboard is an AUX (headphone) cord. Plug that in to your device. If you have a newer iPhone you'll need your own Lightning adapter.
- Make sure the ‘MAIN’ slider on the soundboard (the slider all the way to the right) is set to ‘0’ as shown here. '0' is about 3/4 of the way up.
- Hit the ‘AUX IN / USB’ button (labeled 'COMPUTER') all the way on the left side of the board next to the sliders. The sliders labeled ‘LINE IN’ control the AUX volume.
Playing music from the computer
- Play some music and make sure the volume on the computer is turned all the way up. Check this by clicking the speaker button in the top right of the screen.
- Set the MAIN slider to 0. MAIN is the slider all the way to the right of the board. ‘0’ is about 3/4 of the way up.
- Hit the ‘AUX IN / USB’ button (labeled 'COMPUTER') all the way on the left side of the board next to the sliders. The sliders labeled ‘MAC’ control the computer’s volume.
These two sliders move together as left and right. You only need to move one and the other will follow in sync.
Using Café speakers
- Make sure the switch on the back of each speaker is switched up to ON
- On the sound board, press the 'MATRIX 1-6' button toward the right of the board. The slider labeled 'CAFE' in red controls volume for the two speakers in the Café independently from the Shine Room speakers.
Presenting from the computer to TVs
- Get your Powerpoint or other file on to the computer using a USB drive, Airdrop, or other method.
- For Powerpoint, open the file and on the keyboard press Win + Shift + Enter to start the presentation
- For any other file type to be displayed on screen you can drag it to the left, which is mirrored to the TVs.
Using a mic
- Mics are stored in the top drawer of the plastic drawers below the countertop. The color at the bottom of the mic will match the label on the soundboard.
- Hold the power button to turn it on. Hold again to turn it off.
- Make sure the ‘MAIN’ slider (the slider all the way to the right) is set to ‘0’ as shown here. '0' is about 3/4 of the way up.
- Press the ‘CH 17-32’ (labeled 'VOCALS') button all the way on the left of the sliders. The label color will match the color on the bottom of the mic.
Check the battery level of the mic before use.l
Using the clicker
The clicker is always ready to be used with any Powerpoint. Just open the file and start the presentation from the computer then use the arrows on the clicker to advance.
