Getting started with Notion
- Download & install the Notion Desktop app from notion.so/desktop (Notion also has mobile apps available)
- Log in using credentials in this Google Doc. (They will only be visible to those with a shilohcommunity.church email address or otherwise explicitly given permission)
Our setup
On the left side bar you’ll see the nested pages. Shiloh Help Center is the home page you see when visiting help.shiloh.cc and clicking the toggle triangle will show all the pages that live nested inside it.
The section holds pages that were created for special purposes and are not part of the Help Center.
Articles are grouped into categories based on what makes the most sense. Sometimes an article really belongs in two categories, try to put it wherever you think is the first place someone would look.
Creating a new page
- Open the section where the new page will like (e.g., Office & Admin)
- Click the
+ New Page
button. This starts you off with a template that matches the existing pages. New pages are automatically live at help.shiloh.cc within a few minutes. - Fill in the title and details, adding the needed info to the page. You can embed videos, photos, links and a lot more. (If the page is left unfinished while you’re creating it’s helpful to leave a note at the top that it’s under construction should anyone find it)
- Go back to Shiloh Help Center and add a new line under the correct section. Type “@” then the name of your new page to link it on the main page (this isn’t automatic).
Super
Super is linked to Notion and all updates are automatically synced to help.shiloh.cc within a few minutes. There shouldn’t be anything you need to do regularly in Super but should the need arise, login credentials are here in this Google Doc.
