iPad Troubleshooting

If there is an issue & people are waiting or you can't figure it out, go for the 🔥 Backup Plan and write manual labels for people so they're not kept waiting for too long.

How to Reboot iPads

Because the lock button is blocked by the display case, you also cannot hold it to reboot the iPad. There is an accessibility feature turned on for each iPad that puts a small semi-transparent circle/square icon in the bottom corner of the screen.

  1. Tap the icon to lock the iPad screen
  2. Double-tap the icon to show a menu of available actions
  3. Press and hold the icon to reboot the iPad

Blank White Screen

Cause: The Check-ins app is not loading and non-responsive Solution: Restart the Check-ins app

  1. Double-tap the home button and swipe the Check-ins app away the close it.
  2. Tap on the purple Check-Ins app icon to reopen
  3. The Check-Ins app should load and work

Blank Black Screen

Try pressing the home button on the right to turn the iPad on. If that doesn't work, the iPad is either frozen or the battery is dead.

  1. Check that the iPad is plugged in to the power cable in the back. You can also unplug & replug all connections to be sure they're fully plugged in.
  2. After ensuring all is plugged in, press the home button. If you get a red battery icon, it's plugged in but needs to charge before booting up. (If you get a battery icon that shows a power cable, it is not receiving power.)
  3. If you don’t see any battery icons or the Apple logo after plugging in it may be frozen and needs a hard reboot. Use a security hex key to open the display case, then press & hold both the power and home buttons on the iPad until you see an apple logo.

Printer Troubleshooting

Our Brother brand printers are Wifi connected, so there is no corded connection between them & our iPad stations. On occasion, they will become disconnected, but reconnecting to them is simple.

iPad says "Not connected to a printer!"

  1. Tap the gear icon in the bottom-right of the screen
